Alice in Borderland 1

Surviving the game

Is your life really a game?

What would you do if your life depended on you winning a game that you knew nothing about? Haro Aso delivers in the first book to start the series what it really means to go down this rabbit hole. Full disclaimer this is not a book for your kids or sensitive readers.

The story begins with Ryohei Arisu, a teenager living in the shadow of his brother and his misfit group of friends. One night they are discussing about staying up late to go to a Vegas equivalent city. They stop at a station and find themselves mysteriously transported to an abandoned Tokyo. Here, they are forced to participate in a series of deadly games, each testing their physical and mental limits. With every challenge, the stakes grow higher, and the truth about this bizarre world slowly begins to unravel. While survival often feels like a solitary endeavor, the bonds between characters like Arisu, Shibuki, Chota, and Karube showcase the importance of trust and collaboration in overcoming impossible odds.

With its unpredictable twists and thought provoking themes, it’s a book that makes me eager for more! I can’t wait to see how this story unfolds. Have you read Alice in Borderland? Share your favorite moments or theories in the comments below!
